For My Friend Kristin and her Best Friend Rudy -
HEAVEN'S DOGGY-DOOR
My best friend closed his eyes today, as his head was in my hand.
The Doctors said he was in pain, and it was hard for him to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through my head, as I cradled him in my arms were of his younger, puppy years,And OH...his many charms.
Today, there was no gentle nudge with an intense "I love you gaze",
Only a heart thats filled with tears, remembering our joy filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me, and he said, "You should cry no more,GOD also loves our canine friends,HE's installed a 'doggy-door"!

So sad to hear this.
ReplyDeleteI meet Rudy when I was taking Spanish classes that Thwy was doing maybe 3 yrs. ago or so and never forgot him.
Rudy would wait outside the door at Bananas while we had our classes and I loved giving him a few pets before and after class. I was still missing my German Shepherd that I had to leave back in Canada and Rudy reminded me of my dog so much.
Such a lovely fellow. So many animal friends are passing on this last while: it seems every time I read a blog lately someones pet has died. So hard to lose a member of the family, feel for them.
Jan, I am so sad to hear this news. I hate this about pets. We almost always out live them. I think I told you that Keith's Dad was part of the K-9 unit in Chicaga in the 60's. So Keith grew up with Shepards in the house. We will have one when we move to Mexico. His Sister breeds them.
ReplyDeleteGive Kristin our love and let her know we are thinking about her and Rudy.
Blessings,
Chrissy
Oh NO! I am so sad and sorry to hear this. Please give a hug to Kristen for me. What a sad day.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jan. This is beautiful. We just came back home from burying him in Nacapaule Canyon. He loved to run there and it seemed like the right place for him. I didn't think I could feel any more sadness until I came home, and he didn't come out the dog door. He seems gone to soon and I know I will miss him for the longest time. Thank you for your love and support. He was a magnificent animal and I am glad to know he touched so many people.
ReplyDeleteso very sorry to hear about your loss, but I am glad to know that the doggy door is there. I hope there is a kitty door as well for our little Ashes. It isn't easy, but you will always smile when you think of him. LL
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear this. I didn't know Rudy, but I feel like I did. Loss is so hard, but sometimes it helps to know that while Rudy was here, he was SO loved. My thoughts are with Rudy's family. I hope I'll meet them when I come to visit. They sound like fantastic people. Love to all!
ReplyDeleteOh, Jan...this is beautiful...and I cry with you!!! My heart is so with you!! Sending you love and big hug, Janine xx
